Overview

Washington State University realizes the importance of research in all sectors of society and has produced an impressive and extensive history of instruction and practical research since its establishment in 1890. WSU extension offices, situated in every county in the state of Washington, transfer research from the University to local communities. (See WSU Extension map.)

University-inspired research is the principle source of technological innovations and economic expansion for our region and country. Washington State University’s positive impact upon both the state and national economy is evidenced by the large number of collaborations that exist between the University and commercial enterprises. (See Industry/Commerce Connections maps.)
